A Kassen: Public Domain | Skissernas Museum, Lund
Public Domain, presented at Skissernas Museum, is A Kassen’s first major exhibition in Sweden. Conceived as a retrospective survey, it brings together some of the collective’s most significant interventions in public space. Alongside these works, the exhibition features a large-scale installation in which fragments and elements of the urban environment are brought into the museum galleries, blurring the boundaries between the city and the museum.
For the exhibition, A Kassen has created a series of portraits in which pixels become mosaics, revealing anonymized faces sourced from digital mapping services. By placing these works within the exhibition context, fragments of everyday urban life are relocated into the museum. Together with actual elements of urban infrastructure—such as lampposts, trash bins, and bollards—the installation constructs a fragmented city walk that invites visitors to reconsider the relationship between public space, architecture, and perception.
